JOB LOCATION: Lexington, MA

POSITION : Upstream Development Engineer II

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Perform upstream process development including timely completion of small-scale experiments, scale-up, technology transfer and GMP floor support for programs that bring new biopharmaceutical products to pre-clinical, clinical and process validation manufacturing phases; perform cell banking, cell expansion, bioreactor process, and harvest clarification process development, optimization, characterization, scale-up, and technology transfer to CMOs and/or internal manufacturing facilities; provide technical support and apply knowledge and execute experiments toward development and optimization of cell culture processes and in line with overall project plan and milestones under close supervision; manage, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot bench-top bioreactors and related control systems; design and oversee GMP, engineering and pre-clinical batches; interact with manufacturing operations staff, participates during troubleshooting of issues; execute IND-and BLA-enabling studies; draft technical reports, memos, procedures, technology transfer packages and presentations; contribute to CMC sections of regulatory submissions; assist with external abstracts, presentations and publications; design, execute and conduct data analysis of alternate tangential flow filtration (ATF) and centrifuge based perfusion cell culture processes; set up, execute and conduct data analysis of high throughput perfusion bioreactor experiments using AMBR15 & Tubespins; perform advanced statistical methods such as JMP, Minitab, MATLAB; perform Cell culture media development for perfusion processes.

REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering or related field or foreign academic equivalent plus 2 years of related experience. Required skills: design, execute and conduct data analysis of alternate tangential flow filtration (ATF) and centrifuge based perfusion cell culture processes; set up, execute and conduct data analysis of high throughput perfusion bioreactor experiments using AMBR15 & Tubespins; perform advanced statistical methods such as JMP, Minitab, MATLAB; perform Cell culture media development for perfusion processes.

Full time.

$89,000.00 - $92,600.00
